The UFC's Welterweight division will have an interim champion Saturday when Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz - who had each been promised a shot at Georges St-Pierre before he got hurt - do battle at UFC 143 in Las Vegas.
UFC 143 odds makers were initially off on handicapping this fight, according to MMA betting enthusiasts. Following an impressive win over MMA legend B.J. Penn, oddsmakers at Sportsbook offered Nick Diaz as a +105 underdog against Condit.
Action thus far on the fight has driven that Diaz line down to the current price of -185, and could cost more by fight time. That means lots of money on Diaz.
The one-time -135 favorite Condit will now pay Sportsbook UFC odds of +160. That’s a nice payday if you think that Condit can beat-down Nick Diaz in the early going. Condit has elite striking and has four straight wins against some of the best in the division.

Heavyweight Ultimate Fighter Sportsbook Roy Nelson will look to ruin the return of Fabricio Werdum at UFC 143. Werdum gets back into the UFC after beating Fedor Emelianenko and Antonio Silva, and will need a win if hopes to stay on the UFC roster. Oddsmakers are offering MMA betting fans UFC odds of -145 on Werdum, while a successful Nelson bet will pay +115.
With all the drama in the UFC Welterweight division of late Josh Koscheck has gone relatively unnoticed since his return from a ten-month layoff. It’s no coincidence that he’s fighting on the same card as the onterim title fight, as he will likely get the next shot at the interim title if St-Pierre is injured until November.
Koscheck is a bargain at Sportsbook UFC odds of -240 against the upstart Mike Pierce. Even worse is the meager +180 underdog payout on Pierce against one of the most complete fighters in the UFC.
