UFC 149: Faber vs. Barao Odds
Two elite fighters who are relatively unknown to the casual fan are scheduled to appear at UFC 149 this weekend, and MMA betting fans have the opportunity to take advantage of some UFC odds that are coming at a bargain.
In the UFC 149 main event former WEC champion Urijah Faber will look to finally capture a UFC belt in an interim title fight against top contender Renan Barao. As MMA bettors often see there’s lots of value in fights involving aging big-name fighters against the best up-and-comers.
The Faber vs. Barao matchup is a prime example. Action at Bovada opened with Faber handicapped as a -160 favorite and Barao as a UFC odds +130 underdog. MMA betting fans jumped all over the Barao option and drove the price on the Brazilian up to the current 5Dimes -190. And that price is still a bargain.
In the co-main event MMA bettors are still getting a decent price on the debut of Hector Lombard in the UFC Middleweight ranks. Unproven in the UFC, Lombard is currently coming at a bargain against Tim Boetsch. With UFC odds as cheap as -310 at Bovada, Lombard’s skill and experience should be way too much for the still-developing Boetsch to contend with this weekend.
Underdog action is also available on UFC veteran Heavyweight Cheick Kongo against a much smaller Shawn Jordan. Both fighters will be looking to strike, and if Kongo utilizes his reach his chances of landing the first big power shot will be greatly improved.
Kongo will currently pay +105 at 5Dimes while Jordan action comes with a price of -125 at Bovada. Kongo has been a filter of late for up-and-comer Heavyweights who think they’re ready for the big time. However, with two big men swinging for the fences this one could go either way in a hurry, so the slight underdog payout on Kongo looks like it has the most value.
