UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche Odds

A new MMA betting star has entered the Octagon and her name is Ronda Rousey. The undefeated UFC Bantamweight champion looks to defend her title for the first time against Liz Carmouche in the main event of UFC 157.

The -1100 option on the champ is no surprise as her world-class grappling game is miles beyond any other woman in MMA. Expensive as that price may be she’s well worth the risk against an opponent who is still developing her fight game. The real value on the champ lies in the prop action.

Rousey is 6-0 via six first-round armbar submissions. At 5Dimes you can currently get a UFC odds -300 price on Rousey winning in the first round, as well as -530 that she wins via submission.

Parlay those options with the Rousey win and the value improves greatly.

Ivan Menjivar    +310

Lyoto Machida    -245
Dan Henderson    +205

Liz Carmouche    +775
Ronda Rousey    -1200

Carmouche does not have the ground game to compete with the champ and her striking, though dangerous, is not even close to the level of some of the opponents that Rousey has already steamrolled. Don’t be tempted by the +775 option on the upset in this one.

If you’re looking for a potential underdog payday the Light Heavyweight matchup between Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson might be the way to go. One of MMA’s pound-for-pound Top 10, Henderson is currently an MMA odds +210 underdog despite his legendary status.

Machida will need to be elusive to beat Henderson and pay out on the -225 price at Bovada. He will need to stay off his back and find a way to beat down a tough opponent who has elite wrestling and big power.

UFC 157 also offers an interesting Bantamweight fight between veteran Ivan Menjivar and Urijah Faber. Faber has faded over recent years while Menjivar continues to have success despite having over 30 fights on his record.

Faber is a heavy -370 favorite at 5Dimes while the Menjivar upset will currently pay UFC odds of +310. Faber will hold an advantage in speed and striking, but if Menjivar can get the fight to the ground he could easy submit the former champ for the underdog payday.
