UFC 200: Daniel Cormier vs Anderson Silva Betting Odds

Anderson Silva will step into the Octagon on less than 72 hours notice to take on Daniel Cormier at UFC 200. Cormier was originally scheduled to defend his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Jon Jones at the event, but Jones was pulled from the card after being informed of a potential doping violation.

The line initially opened with Cormier as a massive -600 favorite in Vegas with ‘The Spider’ coming back at +400. The line makes plenty of sense as DC has been training for a bout with Jones for months while Silva will be fighting on extremely short notice and well over his usual weight.

Cormier will want to get Silva to the mat where he can dominate him. Silva is not used to fighting men the size of Cormier and being underneath the Olympic-caliber wrestler is a worst-case scenario for Anderson.

Though Silva is 41 and has not officially picked up a victory in the UFC in nearly four years, he should still have a distinct advantage in the striking game. Silva has perhaps the greatest striking precision we’ve ever seen and is equally deadly with all of his limbs.
