UFC Fight Night 21 Odds

The UFC has had their own bout of March Madness lately and will deliver their third event in less than two weeks on Wednesday with UFC Fight Night 21 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This event follows the debut of UFC Live on Versus on March 21 and UFC 111 on March 27. If you’re a big MMA fan or bettor, it’s been a good couple of weeks.

The main event at UFC Fight Night 21 is a Lightweight bout between UFC veteran Kenny Florian and UFC newcomer Takanori Gomi. The oddsmakers have listed Florian as a big favorite in the fight at -340 at Bovada, while Gomi is a +260 underdog on the latest UFC 21 odds.

Florian enters the bout with a lifetime MMA record of 12-4 with three wins by knockout and eight by submission. He’s a solid 7-1 in his last eight fights, with his only loss coming against B.J. Penn in a UFC Lightweight title bout. He last fought at UFC 107 in December where he defeated Clay Guida by submission in the second round with a rear naked choke.

Just because Gomi is making his UFC debut on Wednesday doesn’t mean he isn’t an experienced MMA fighter. He’s a lifetime 31-5 with 11 wins by KO and he’s a former Lightweight champion in Japan with PRIDE. He hasn’t fought since October at Vale Tudo Japan 2009, when he defeated Tony Hervey by unanimous decision. Gomi may be worth putting a couple bucks on in case he pulls off an upset because he would pay big at +260 at Bovada.

Also on the UFC Fight Night 21 card is a heavyweight bout between Roy Nelson and Stefan Struve.

Nelson earned his way into the UFC by winning The Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights finale back in December. He faced Brendan Schaub in the series final and defeated him by KO in the first round. His lifetime MMA record stands at 14-4 with seven wins by KO. He’s a -325 favorite to beat Struve on Wednesday night at Bovada.

Struve has won his last three fights to boost his MMA record up to 19-3 with 14 wins by submission. He last fought at UFC 107 in December and defeated Paul Buentello by majority decision. He’s a heavy +250 underdog versus Nelson.
