UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Shields
MMA betting action returns on October 9 with UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Shields. Also on the card is a matchup between Dong Hyun Kim and Erick Silva, and moneyline and OVER/UNDER prop bet options are already available on both fights.
In the main event Damian Maia will look to make it four straight wins in the Welterweight division with a win over former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields. Oddsmakers at 5Dimes currently have Maia listed as an MMA odds -270 favorite, but that line has moved up as high as -320 and down to as much as -195.
Action on Shields has levelled off at +190 at 5Dimes but is still as high as +240 at Bovada. How Shields will pay out on that UFC odds option is unclear as he will be outclassed both in grappling and striking by Maia.
OVER/UNDER prop action is set at 4.5 rounds with the OVER option currently coming with a UFC odds -125 price, while the UNDER is worth -115. It seems unlikely to us that Shields will be able to avoid the submission for five rounds.
The co-main event between Erick Silva and Dong Hyun Kim poses an interesting matchup. Silva will bring aggression early and is expected to be too much for Kim to handle. For that reason he is currently an MMA odds -260 favorite at Bovada.
Kim’s best chance to win will come in the second half of the fight, if it lasts that long. If he can weather the Silva storm he will have a good chance at paying out the 5Dimes +205 underdog option.
OVER/UNDER prop action in this fight is set at 1.5 rounds, with the OVER option handicapped at -170. If you think Silva will finish his opponent earlier the UNDER will pay +130. For Kim’s toughness alone the OVER option looks like it has great value in this fight.
