Rafael dos Anjos will aim to defend his UFC Lightweight Championship for a second time when he faces off against former Bellator Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez on July 7. The two fighters will headline a UFC Fight Pass event; the first time a male championship title fight will be held on their exclusive streaming service.
RDA opened as an overwhelming -400 favorite with Alvarez coming back at +300 per Sportsbook.
Dos Anjos enters the bout with a 10-1 record in his past 11 fights, which includes a quick TKO victory over Donald Cerrone in his last outing. Ever since joining Kings MMA, dos Anjos has seen his striking game progress by leaps and bounds. With his standup game catching up to his third degree BJJ black belt ground game, he may be the most all-around dangerous fighter at 155.
Alvarez is 2-1 since joining the UFC, with his two victories coming by split decision over Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis. Alvarez is a grinder who will look to cut off the cage and make this fight a brawl. Though he may not be the flashiest, Alvarez does everything at an above average level in the Octagon, which can be overwhelming for some fighters.
