UFC 212: Aldo vs Holloway Betting Odds

After a year of uncertainty, the UFC featherweight division will finally have some clarity once Jose Aldo and Max Holloway face off at UFC 212. Ever since Aldo lost a quick 13-second title bout to Conor McGregor, the 145-pound division has been in complete disarray. Aldo now finds himself as the champion while Holloway holds the interim strap and a true king of the featherweight division will finally be crowned.

Aldo opens as a slight -130 favorite with Holloway coming back at +100. This is a competitive line for a competitive match. Aldo is likely the greatest featherweight of all time and has decimated the division for years. Across the Octagon will be Holloway who, despite being just 25 years old, has a professional record of 17-3.

Aldo is a technical striker on the feet who tends to stick to advanced basics. This is not a knock against the Brazilian, as his style is fluid and heavy on counter-striking. He has an excellent jab and some of the most lethal leg kicks in MMA today. Aldo can grapple as well, as he holds a black belt in BJJ, though he traditionally uses his wrestling defensively to keep a fight standing.

Holloway is also a meat-and-potatoes type of striker. When you combine this with the ridiculous pace he likes to push, you can see why ‘Blessed’ is one of the top featherweights ever in knockdowns, significant strikes landed and striking differential. Holloway isn’t likely to shoot for a takedown but is plenty capable of grappling defensively.
