Unranked foes favored vs conference rivals

Marquette is ranked 11th but still an underdog against the unranked Hoyas today in a scan down the list of college basketball betting odds. Oklahoma is also a small dog against an unranked conference foe.

No. 11 Marquette Golden Eagles (22-4 11-2 Big East) at Georgetown Hoyas -3.5 (14-10 5-8 Big East)

In terms of NCAAB odds, Bovada has the Hoyas as 3.5-point favorites.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. The Hoyas were ranked as high as 9th this season, but they have lost seven of their last eight games and they may need to win this game to get into the Big Dance.

Marquette is ½ game back of UConn in the Big East, as they battle for their first Big East title.

Marquette has to play good inside D and contain C Greg Monroe (13 ppg 6.8 rpg) and F DaJuan Summers (14.1 ppg). If the Hoyas can dominate the boards they will win this game.

The Golden Eagles have better perimeter offense led by Jerel McNeal (19.9 ppg) and the Hoyas will have to keep the Eagles from hitting from downtown.

In their first meeting this season at Marquette the Golden Eagles beat the Hoyas 94-82 on January 31st.

Look for the Golden Eagles to keep rolling and upset the Hoyas, which will hurt Georgetown’s chances of playing in the NCAA Tournament.

No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners (25-1 11-0 Big East) at Texas Longhorns -1 (17-8 6-5 Big 12)

BetUS.com opened the Longhorns as 1-point favorites in college basketball betting lines.

Texas hosts one of the hottest teams in the nation, as the Sooners come to town riding a 13 game winning streak.

The Longhorns look like a good bet to get into the Big Dance, but if they win tonight they may be a lock for an invite. The Sooners need to win this game to stay on track for the number one seed in the tournament.

The key for the Longhorns in this game is playing good inside defense on player of the year candidate Blake Griffin (22.8 ppg 14.2 rpg), who is coming off the best game of his career going for career highs of 40 points and 23 rebounds in the Sooners last win over Texas Tech.

The Sooners are not a one-man team, as they have a good inside out game with Griffin and G Willie Warren (14.9 ppg).

The Longhorns have to play good defense and G A.J. Abrams (16.8 ppg) has to have a big scoring game.

Texas has won their last five home games against teams ranked in the top five.

Look for the Griffin to be too much for Texas to handle, as they will upset the Longhorns in their house tonight.

No. 3 North Carolina Tar Heels (24-2 10-2 ACC) at Maryland Terrapins (16-9 5-6 ACC)

In terms of NCAAB game odds, BetUS.com has the Tar Heels as 12.5-point road favorites.

This may be a must win game for Maryland, as they cannot afford to go two games under .500 in the Big East. If they lose tonight they may miss the Big Dance, but if they can pull off the upset it will look great on their resume.

The Terrapins are 1-5 against ranked teams this season.

Maryland will have to play a great defensive game, both inside and down low, against F Tyler Hansbrough (21.4 ppg 7.5 rpg), G-F Danny Green (13.6 ppg), and G Ty Lawson (15.9 ppg).

Landon Milbourne (13 ppg) and Greivis Vasquez (16 ppg) only combined for 22 points in their loss at North Carolina earlier this month. Besides solid defense the Terps must play, these two will have to have solid scoring games to pull off the upset.

The Terrapins are solid at home, but they are way overmatched in this game. Even though the Tar Heels will win the game the Terps will play well in front of their home crowd and cover the spread.
