USC, Mizzou will cover big spreads
Call me Joe the Square because of these picks, but they make sense and follow the smart money. So picking the favorites to cover big spreads is not always the 'square thing to do. Watch this weekend as USC and Mizzou cover big college football odds and the Washington Redskins, despite injuries, to cover six points against the Eagles.
College Football Odds
#23 Oregon Ducks (3-1) at #9 USC Trojans -16.5 (2-1) O/U 56.5
USC comes off a big upset losing to Oregon State. The Trojans need to win this game and play good defense to do so, as the Ducks rank 8th in the nation in total yards and 4th in rushing yards. The loser of this game can kiss their National Title hopes goodbye.
The Ducks can prove their offense is legit with a good showing in La La Land, but the Trojans are still stacked and they will take out their frustration of losing last week on the Ducks, as they will win and cover the spread.
#4 Missouri Tigers -11 (4-0) at Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-1) O/U 70.5
Talk about history, as Mizzou has not won in Nebraska since 1978. This is Mizzu’s best chance to end that drought, as they rank 2nd in total yards, 3rd in passing yards per game, and 2nd in points scored per game.
That is not good for the home Huskers, as their D has played poorly this year is not playing well allowing an average of 19.5 points and 354.8. Mizzou has a weak D as well, so the Over bet is a good call even if the O/U is 70.5. The Huskers cannot get into a shootout and Mizzou will score a lot and cover the spread.
Washington Redskins (3-1) at Philadelphia Eagles -6 (2-2) O/U 42.5
How the tide has turned, as the Redskins shocked the Cowboys beating them at home last week 26-24, while the Eagles lost last week to the Bears. The Eagles cannot afford to lose this game, as with a loss they will be under .500. The Skins have to deal with an Eagles D that ranks 3rd in the league.
The Skins QB, Jason Campbell, has gotten better every game, but he will need some help from his rushing game in order to win. Look for a close game, but for the Redskins’ momentum to carry them to victory.
Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) at Jacksonville Jaguars -4 (2-2) O/U 36
Both of these teams won thrilling overtime games last week, but this game is bigger for the Jags, as they cannot afford to go under .500, as the Titans are 4-0 in the AFC South.
The Steelers defense ranks 2nd in the league and Jags RB Fred Taylor has to play well and bust out of his slump, as he only has 213 yards and only averaging 3.6 yards per carry. Look for a low scoring game, as neither offense can light up the scoreboard and for the Jaguars to pull one out at home and cover the spread.
Liverpool (2.25) at Manchester City (3.15) Draw (3.25)
Unlike the past few years Liverpool has shot out of the blocks and is undefeated in the Premier League with 4 wins, 2 draws, and 0 losses. Manchester City has a new rich owner, so they may be in the market for some players.
They can stay near the top of the league table with a win at home. Look for an exciting game, but for Liverpool to show they deserve to be at the top of the league, as they will win this game.
