Weekend Free Football Picks
The weekend is here, there is plenty of football on the go and plenty of money-making opportunities to exploit. We look at the odds, find the edges and then pass along some free picks.
#3 Georgia -7 at Arizona State - Georgia slipped past South Carolina 14-7 last week and this week plays an Arizona State team with one of the more dynamic offenses in the country. ASU has the offense, but their D is suspect. Even though the Sun Devils have a great offense they have not played a defense like the one Georgia has.
Pick: Georgia should win this game and cover the spread.
#4 Florida -8 at Tennessee - The Gators play a Volunteers team that got back on track last week winning against UAB after being upset in their first game losing to UCLA. The Gators are undefeated, but their offense has not hit their stride.
Pick: Look for them to do so this week and beat UT and cover the spread.
#6 LSU at #10 Auburn - Auburn and LSU battle in a big early season SEC match up. Both teams feature one of the best defenses in the nation. LSU has not won in Auburn in almost a decade.
Pick: This should be a low scoring affair, so the Under is a good bet.
Carolina Panthers at Minnesota Vikings -3.5 – The Vikings benched starting QB Tarvaris Jackson, as backup Gus Frerotte was recently named the starter for the rest of the season. The Panthers are 2-0 and playing well under QB Jake Delhomme, who looks to have recovered nicely from surgery. The Vikings offense is sputtering and RB Adrian Peterson may mss the game due to injury.
Pick: Because of these things taking the Panthers is a good bet.
New Orleans Saints at Denver Broncos -6 - Both teams can light up the scoreboard, but neither team can play defense. On defense the Broncos rank 27th and the Saints rank 29th.
Pick: This game will probably be a shootout, so the Over (51) is the smart pick.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles -3.5 – The Eagles defense is Jekyll and Hyde, as they are the best at stopping the run, 52 yards per game, but can’t stop the pass giving up 217 yards per game. Both QB’s have looked great, but Ben Roethlisberger has an injured shoulder and they may have to rely on the run, which will play into the hand of the Eagles.
Pick: Take the Eagles to cover the spread.
Manchester City (3.25) at Chelsea (2.15) (draw 3.35) - The English Premier League sees a huge game this weekend as Chelsea hosts Manchester United. Chelsea looked great as they beat Bordeaux 4-0 in Champions League play, while Manchester United hosted Villarreal and played to a 0-0 draw even though they were heavily favored. Chelsea is in 1st place in the Premier League and at home.
Pick: Take Chelsea to win.
