World Cup 2010 qualifying odds
World Cup 2010, the planet's biggest wagering event, is ramping up with European World Cup qualifying games. After a busy weekend, there are quite a few more Wednesday, check out the odds on your favorite team.
Group 1 odds
Denmark and Hungary both have 10 points while group favorites Portugal and Sweden both have 6 points. Portugal and Sweden played to a 0-0 draw last Saturday and each has tomorrow off while Denmark hosts Albania and Hungary hosts Malta. If both home teams win they should get through the group and play next summer.
Group 2 odds
In this wide-open group, which is pretty weak, Greece and Switzerland have 10 points followed by Israel with 9 points and Latvia with 7 points. The big game in the group tomorrow is Greece hosting Israel, as the winner is in a good position to move on while the loser has an uphill battle to play in South Africa.
Group 3 odds
Group 3 is also wide-open, as surprising North Ireland leads the group with 10 points followed by Slovakia with 9 points, Czech Republic and Slovenia with 8 points, and Poland with 7 points. Czech Republic, Poland, and North Ireland all host games tomorrow and each needs to win, especially Poland.
Group 4 odds
Germany leads the group with 13 points and Russia is in second with 9 points. Each should qualify if they win tomorrow, as Germany plays at Wales and Russia plays at Liechtenstein and each should win their away games.
Group 5 odds
Spain is running away with the group with 15 points and there is a battle for second between Bosnia (9 points), Turkey (8 points), and Belgium (7 points). Turkey hosts Spain in a tough game, while the big game tomorrow is Bosnia hosting Belgium. If Turkey can win or tie they will be in a good position, as they do not have to face Spain again.
Group 6 odds
This group is simple to call, as England move on as the group winner, but the battle for second is between Ukraine and Croatia, who both have 7 points. The winner of the group may come down to the Croatia vs. Ukraine game in Zagreb on June 6th. Croatia can take the lead in the group tomorrow, as they play away against a weak Andorra squad, while Ukraine lays a tough away game against England.
Group 7 odds
Surprising Serbia is leading this group with 12 points followed by Lithuania with 9 points and disappointing France with 7 points. France needs to win, and should win, tomorrow as they host Lithuania.
Group 8 odds
Italy and Ireland will move on in this group unless each team has a huge meltdown. Defending champion Italy leads the group with 13 points and Ireland has 11 points, while Bulgaria and Montenegro each trails far behind with 4 points each. The big game tomorrow is Italy hosting Ireland, as if Italy wins they will win the group.
Group 9 odds
Holland will win this group, but there is a battle for second place between Iceland (4 points), Scotland (4 points), Macedonia (3 points), and Norway (2 points). The big game tomorrow is Scotland hosting Iceland, as the winner of that game will be in second place unless Macedonia shocks Holland in Holland in the other game tomorrow night.
