Things get worse for Hawkeyes

Iowa, once thought a contender in the Big Ten, had five turnovers in a 34-24 loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers at the Metrodome on Saturday.

The Golden Gophers covered the 3-point spread at home, and the 58 points scored were OVER the posted total of 53.

Bryan Cupito was 18-for-29 for 266 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Amir Pinnix had 23 carries for 121 yards and two scores for the Golden Gophers.

Drew Tate went 26-for-36 for 355 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions, while Andy Brodell caught seven passes for 160 yards and a score for the Hawkeyes.
