Zips spoil Huskies comeback with overtime victory

The Northern Illinois Huskies scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to force overtime but Brett Briggs spoiled the comeback with a 1-yard touchdown run in OT to give the Akron Zips a 48-42 win on Saturday.

The Zips won this game as 7.5-point underdogs at home. The game’s final score went well OVER the posted total (58). Luke Getsy passed for 406 yards and five touchdowns in the win. Jason Montgomery had four catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns, while Domenik Hixon caught six passes for 103 yards and a TD.

Phil Horvath threw for 487 yards and six touchdowns in the loss. Sam Hurd caught 14 passes for 149 yards and three touchdowns for the Huskies.
