Adrien Broner and Mikey Garcia exchange punches during their Junior Welterwight bout

Broner vs Vargas Betting Odds

Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas will meet in a 144-pound catchweight bout as part of a huge ESPN tripleheader of fights on April 21. Vargas is an ever-so-slight -135 favorite with Broner coming back at +105.

Broner was originally supposed to fight Omar Figueroa at 140 pounds but the Texas native had to pull out due to a shoulder injury. Instead, Broner will face Vargas, who has been a welterweight for approximately the past three years and will hold a notable size advantage in this bout.

Broner is 33-3 with 1 NC in his boxing career with 24 wins coming via knockout. “The Problem” is still a bit of an enigma for boxing fans. He flashed occasional brilliance against lower-tier opponents but has always seemed completely outclassed in his losses. When the Cincinnati native is aggressive and active, he can be great but far too often he looks lackadaisical inside the squared circle.

Vargas is 28-2 in his 30 professional bouts with just 10 wins coming by way of knockout. The former member of the Mexican Olympic team is talented in the technical aspects of the game – especially at establishing quick flurries – but lacks the power in his hands that many other fighters at his weight possess.
