Boxing Betting Odds: May Fights Preview

May 2015 is the month that boxing betting fans have been waiting nearly a decade for as it features the superfight between Manny Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs) and Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs).

As well, the rest of the month is filled with boxing cards that include numerous title defenses.

The big one goes down on May 2 in Las Vegas and action is available at every sportsbook. Current action at 5Dimes has Mayweather handicapped as the -220 favorite while a Pacquiao win would pay +180. You can also get action on the OVER/UNDER which is set at 11.5 rounds.

Despite all the hype this fight is five years too late, but for that reason there is a ton of value on the Mayweather to win option. Pacquiao is a fighter past his prime, and like many legends of the sport his name moves the lines more than his current ability. Load up on the Mayweather decision win, boxing betting opportunities like this don’t come by every day.

On May 9 the WBC Silver Light Middleweight title will be on the line when Austin Trout (28-2, 15 KOS) meets Anthony Mundine (47-6, 27 KOs). This fight is currently handicapped in favor of Trout who is coming with a -300 price. The upset option on Mundine is currently paying +240.

Both fighters have suffered recent losses and will be looking to get things rolling again with an impressive win. Mundine is almost 40 years old and will likely not be able to keep up with the pace his opponent will bring.

Later in the month on May 16 the undefeated Gennady Golovkin (32-0, 29 KO’s) puts his collection of Middleweight titles on the line against Willie Monroe Jr. As to be expected Golovkin is a massive boxing odds -5000 favorite to win while the unlikely upset will pay +2000.
