Gervonta Davis taunts Francisco Fonseca in the fourth round of their junior lightweight bout

Davis vs Cuellar Betting Odds

Gervonta Davis will make his return to the ring when he takes on Jesus Cuellar for the vacant WBA “regular” super featherweight title on April 21. Unsurprisingly, Davis is a -850 favorite with Cuellar being installed as the +525 underdog.

Davis is easily one of the brightest prospects in boxing, as the 23-year-old is 19-0 with 18 knockouts to his name. “Tank” never lost his IBF super featherweight title in the ring, rather he failed to make weight before his mandatory title defense vs Francisco Fonseca in August 2017. Davis is known as a fast starter but should be prepared for a longer bout vs the incredibly durable Cuellar.

Cuellar takes the place of Billy Dib, who was originally expected to get this bout vs Davis. However, Cuellar should be a more difficult test for the undefeated Davis, as the Argentine is 28-2 with 21 knockouts and is a former WBA featherweight champion. Cuellar’s hard-charging style could open him up to Davis’ big bombs but could also force the younger fighter to wilt.
