Yet another celebrity boxing match is on the horizon, following in the footsteps of YouTube stars Logan and Jake Paul, who have stepped away from the keyboard and into the boxing ring. Now, former NBA star Lamar Odom and rapper Aaron Carter are set to settle their differences with their fists on June 12 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Odom vs Carter Odds Analysis: Is there value on the underdog?
It can be somewhat difficult to assess the betting odds when it comes to celebrity boxing, with limited footage and typically not much skill on either side. However, when looking at the Lamar Odom vs Aaron Carter odds, I think the line is set relatively correctly, with perhaps some value on the former NBA star.
Will size be the difference-maker?
I’m not sure what the allowed weight will be for this fight but there’s likely going to be 40 or more pounds separating the two men. When Odom played in the NBA, he was listed around 230 pounds, while Carter was happy to reach his goal weight of 175 pounds in late December.
Odom is eight inches taller and will likely have a significant reach advantage, though in celebrity boxing matches, reach doesn’t really matter because the combatants don’t know how to use it.
Lamar Odom vs Aaron Carter Preview
As mentioned above, previewing celebrity boxing matches is challenging but there are a few things I have seen that offer some insight. There was a clip of Aaron Carter hitting a BOB (body opponent bag) and all of his punches were hooks, strictly to the body, with not a ton of heat on them.
As for the two-time NBA champion, his videos raise some concerns as well, as he looks quite stiff and heavy on his feet. Additionally, when throwing punches, his back foot will at times be off the ground, taking away much of his power. That said, he does work behind his jab, which is crucial in this type of bout.
Odom vs Carter Prediction
Odom has said he has been training in boxing for quite some time, including when he played in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers. He used boxing as part of his training, which should give him a massive advantage moving around the ring and understanding how to throw the basic jab, straight, hook that you need to win a celebrity boxing match.
Carter considers himself more of a street fighter and we saw the difference between a wild striker and someone who has trained for a period of time in boxing when former NBA star Nate Robinson took on Jake Paul and was knocked out in the second round. If the rapper thinks he can just close the distance and start winging shots at Odom, it opens up huge areas for him to be hit cleanly and damaged as a result.
Overall, Carter will get some shots in as the faster, smaller fighter. However, I think that Odom’s defense and patience will pay off and he will find opportunities to throw straight hard punches that should hurt the rapper and perhaps put him away.
