Boxing Gloves Rough n' Rowdy 3

Barstool Sports Rough n’ Rowdy 3 Betting Preview: One Man Thrill Ride vs Bavarian Hercules

The greatest and most preposterous amateur boxing event in the world is back! For the first time since its sale to Barstool Sports in late 2017, Rough n’ Rowdy will be held outside of West Virginia, as Charlotte, North Carolina is the setting for the third instalment of the event on April 13.

With the addition of Bill Burr on the broadcast, aka one of the most popular comedians in the world, the Barstool gang isn’t pulling any punches this time around. Dave “El Presidente” Portnoy and Dan “Big Cat” Katz are set to join Burr on the call for what’s shaping up to be must-see TV.

The main event for Rough n’ Rowdy 3 is shaping up to be a classic. Massachusetts native and all-around maniac the One Man Thrill Ride squares off with the relative unknown German heavyweight the Bavarian Hercules. Once again, Sportsbook is back with odds for bettors to get in on the action, listing the Bavarian Hercules as the -170 favorite and Thrill Ride as the +130 underdog.

If you’re unfamiliar with Rough n’ Rowdy, here’s a quick breakdown of how it works. The night features over 40 fights which all consist of three one-minute rounds (except for the main event). All of the participants are amateurs and in some cases have no idea what they’re doing. Unlike skilled professionals, many of the boxers tire quickly, which makes them prone to massive knockouts. Needless to say, it’s a lot of fun to watch.

Here’s a breakdown of what bettors can expect in the main event:

The case for the One Man Thrill Ride +130

Thrill Ride is no stranger to the camera, and if you’ve seen any of his YouTube videos, you already know he’s the most electric promo-cutter to come on the scene since the late “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Thrill Ride (whose real name is Jim Preston) is a recreational bodybuilder and wrestler who came just short of fulfilling his dreams of making the WWE. Thrilly’s charisma on the mic is unmatched and he’s done an excellent job of selling the fight, but his lack of boxing experience is the main reason he’s the underdog in this fight.

Sportsbook opened Thrill Ride as a +200 dog on April 12 – the largest margin in Rough n’ Rowdy history – before dropping the odds to +130 on the day of the fight. The shop is also offering odds on whether Thrill Ride will cry in the ring, with the YES option coming in at -150 and the NO at +110. Standing at five-foot-nine and 200 pounds, Thrilly has a height disadvantage compared to the Bavarian Hercules (five-foot-11, 200 pounds), but his passion for putting on a show has never been in question.

The case for the Bavarian Hercules -170

Korbinian Hutter, aka the Bavarian Hercules, knows he’s going to play the villain role against the all-American Thrilly Dilly in Charlotte, but there’s no denying his physical presence. The guy is as intimidating as it gets. Hutter came into the Barstool world after he saw an ad on Instagram for the fight, and it’s quite clear the $10,000 purse is his main goal. The book opened Hutter as a huge -300 favorite but dropped him down to -170 as of this writing.

To my knowledge, Hutter’s boxing experience is spotty. He does possess a fitness degree, however, which he obtained in Germany. A wager on him essentially comes down to bettors favoring him mainly due to his reach advantage.

My pick: the One Man Thrill Ride +130

I’m 1-1 in my Rough n’ Rowdy selections after I whiffed on Tex in December and hit on Smitty in February. I believe Thrilly Dilly will be hangin’ out, feelin’ silly, lookin’ like a milly in North Carolina and end his entertainment career on a high note like an ABSOLUTE SAVAGE.

SEE YA, DINK!
