Week 19 CFL Odds Preview

The Grey Cup looms, but CFL betting action continues in earnest this week as the regular season wraps up.

In week 18 Toronto ended their hopes to host a playoff game with their 37-30 loss to Montreal and Winnipeg was eliminated from the playoffs and Edmonton kept their playoff hopes alive with a win over the Blue Bombers. Calgary killed Hamilton 55-24 and BC also stayed in the playoff race with a big 23-17 win over Saskatchewan.

This is the last week of the regular season and the playoffs are pretty much set, but with BC and Edmonton tied with 14 points one team will be in the post-season and one out after this weekend.

Week 19 CFL Preview and Lines

Calgary Stampeders vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Bet365 has Calgary as 3-point favorites in this game with a total of 53.5

This is a meaningless game for both teams since Winnipeg will be watching the playoffs from home and Calgary will get a first round playoff bye after securing the top spot in the West. The Stampeders will likely rest some starters, especially QB Henry Burris, who did not play the whole game last week. The Blue Bombers have lost three straight and are only a .500 team at home (4-4).

Calgary is a tough bet since this game is meaningless to them, but I am going with the Over since the last 5 games for the Stampeders have gone Over and the total has gone Over in 8 of the Blue Bombers last 10 home games.

British Columbia Lions vs. Hamilton Tigers-Cats

BC is 4-point favorites in this game at Bet365 with a total of 52.

To avoid missing out on the post season for the first time in 14 years BC has to beat Hamilton and Edmonton needs to lose. Basically, this game means everything to the Lions and nothing to the Tiger-Cats, who will host a first round playoff game. That is why BC is 4-point road favorites, as it is likely Hamilton will rest their big guns of QB Kevin Glenn, RB DeAndra' Cobb, and WR Arland Bruce III.

Take the Lions to win, as they are in desperation mode, will be taking on a shorthanded Hamilton squad, and are playing well winning 6 of their last 9 games after starting the season 1-7.

BC is 10-3 SU in its last 13 games when playing Hamilton.

Edmonton Eskimos vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders

Bet365 has Saskatchewan as slight 1-point favorites in this game with a total of 52.

It’s easy for the Eskimos, as if they win they are in the playoffs. They can still get in if BC loses, but the Lions are favored to win and are playing well. Saskatchewan will host a first round playoff game next weekend. Will star QB Darian Durant and RB Wes Cates play for the Roughriders?

Maybe Durant should sit, as he had three INT and fumbled in their loss last week, which was their fourth straight. Edmonton QB Eskimos QB Jared Zabransky got the win last week against Winnipeg, but he threw four INT and he has to play better in this, almost, must win game.

Even though Edmonton is only 2-5 ATS in its last 7 games on the road take them to cover since they have won three straight and Saskatchewan has lost four straight and will not be motivated for this game that means nothing to them.

Toronto Argonauts vs. Montreal Alouettes

Montreal is a one-TD favorite in this game, 7 points, at Bovada with a total of 49.5

Don’t expect to see many stars in this game, as both teams’ playoff spots are already set. Montreal has the best record in the East and will get a playoff bye next week while Toronto heads to Hamilton for a first round playoff match up.

Take the Alouettes in this game, as Toronto’s offense has struggled for the second half of the season, especially on the road, and they have only covered the spread in 3 of their last 10 games.
