Sic Bo

Sic Bo is one of the easiest games to play offered in many casinos. It looks a little bit complicated when you first see the betting layout, but the entire game boils down to the player choosing a bet, or bets, followed by three dice being rolled and bets placed on winning combinations getting paid. The dice are rolled in a cup, special box, bowl or by an automated system by the casino. Generally the players never touch the dice. That is really all there is to how to play Sic Bo. However, there are a ton of different wagering options, so those have all been included below.

Sic Bo Bets

Here is a list and explanation of Sic Bo bets. I have also included pay out details for each wager, but some of them do vary depending on where you play. Make sure to check the payouts before placing your bets. The most common wagers are the big and small bets, which are the ones I suggest you stick to when you play.

Big is the name of the bet that pays 1 to 1 when the dice total is from 11 to 17. You do not win on any three of a kind roll, so if three fours or three fives are rolled you lose.

Small is when the dice total is from 4 to 10 and pays out 1 to 1. The small bet also loses on any three of a kind rolls.

A bet on even wins 1 to 1 on any even total roll except for three of a kind rolls.

The odd bet wins 1 to 1 on any roll total that is odd except for three of a kind rolls.

A bet on double pays from 8 to 1 up to 11 to 1 depending on where you play and wins when at least two of the chosen number are rolled. You must pick which number you are wagering on. For example, double (or two) fours is a bet that at least two of the three dice will have a four on it.

The triple bet pays from 150 to 1 up to 190 to 1 and is a bet that three of the number you choose are rolled.

Any triple pays from 24 to 1 up to 32 to 1 and wins on any roll of three of a kind.

Betting any one number is a wager that a number you pick will be rolled on at least one of the dice. If it appears three times you are paid 3 to 1, if it appears two times you win 2 to 1 and if it appears one time you win 1 to 1.

You can also bet on single totals of the rolls. For example you can wager that the dice will total 8. Here are the payouts for each of the single number bets from 4 to 17. Four and seventeen pay from 50 to 1 up to 62 to 1. Five and sixteen pays from 18 to1 up to 31 to 1. Six and fifteen pays from 14 to 1 up to 18 to1. Seven and fourteen pays 12 to 1. Eight and thirteen pays 8 to 1. Nine and twelve pays either 6 to 1 or 7 to 1 and ten or eleven pays 6 to 1.

Sic Bo Meaning

Sic Bo means dice pair or precious dice and is known by different names throughout the world. Other names include Tai Sai, Hi Lo, Dai Siu and big and small. The original game has its roots in ancient China and is still wildly popular in Asian countries where gambling can be found. Along with baccarat, Sic Bo is one of the two most popular games in many of these locations. It can also be found in Atlantic City and Las Vegas.

Sic Bo Strategy

Like most casino games, the best strategy to win money in the long run would be to not play because the casino has an advantage. But when you do play you should do everything you can to reduce the house edge as much as possible. This helps your bankroll last longer and gives you the best chance to win during any particular playing session. The best strategy to use when playing Sic Bo is to play one of the wagers that pay 1 to 1. You can play big, small, odd or even. Each of these offers the lowest house advantage of under 3%. The big and small bets are available everywhere, but the even and odd wagers are not widely found in the United States.
