Division semifinal opponents have now been determined and it’s time for the Sportsbook round of CFL playoff betting action on Sunday.
The East semifinal will go in Montreal with the Alouettes (10-8) hosting the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (8-10) in the Sportsbook CFL betting matchup on Sunday. The Alouettes are the 5.5-point favorites at Sportsbook, while the total is sitting at 55.5 points.
Montreal missed a chance at the division title by getting blown away 43-1 by the B.C. Lions in their regular-season finale. The Alouettes were 3.5-point underdogs, while the total went UNDER the posted OVER/UNDER of 54. Montreal is limping into the playoffs with three straight losses.
The two teams split four games this past regular season, with the home team winning all four games. The edge will certainly swing in favor of the Alouettes on the CFL betting lines based on that statistic alone. The Tiger-Cats did cover the spread in three of the four head-to-head matchups.
Winnipeg will host the Sportsbook of the Montreal and Hamilton semifinal in the East division final next weekend.
The Battle of Alberta takes on a different meaning when Edmonton (11-7) hosts Calgary (11-7) in the West division semifinal on Sunday, with the Sportsbook advancing to face the Lions in British Columbia.
Sportsbook has the Eskimos as 2.5-point favorites, with the OVER/UNDER total set at 51.5 points.
Calgary has won three straight entering the postseason, including a 30-24 win over the Blue Bombers. The Stampeders managed to PUSH the 6-point spread, while the 54 points went OVER the posted total of 51.5 in that game.
Edmonton has won four of five coming into the playoffs, with the only loss to B.C. The Eskimos squeaked out a 23-20 win over the Roughriders last week, but failed to cover the 9-point spread.
Calgary has normally had its way with the Eskimos, but it was Edmonton who won two of three against the Stampeders in a major turnaround season.
