CFL Week 17 Trends and Betting Preview

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will be looking to improve on their Eastern-leading 9-5 SU record and their league-leading 10-4 ATS mark this week when they cap off the Week 17 CFL betting slate on Sunday afternoon. Three other matchups populate the CFL schedule for the week ahead; here's a look at the odds and betting trends.

Winnipeg at Ottawa - Friday, October 16

Last 10 Meetings: Ottawa 1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS | OU 2-0

Totals bettors will be looking for an OVER trend to continue when the RedBlacks host the Blue Bombers in CFL betting action on Friday night, as both games between the teams went OVER the posted total at the sportsbooks last season. Friday will mark the first game of the year between Ottawa and Winnipeg; last season Winnipeg beat Ottawa 36-28 as a 3.5-point home favorite then lost 42-20 as a 3.5-point road favorite.

At 5Dimes the RedBlacks are listed as 4-point favorites against the Blue Bombers.

Calgary at Toronto - Saturday, October 17

Last 10 Meetings: Toronto 6-4 SU, 8-2 ATS | OU 5-5

The Argonauts have been tagged with a SU loss in four of their last five games against the Stampeders, but they covered the spread at the sportsbooks in three of those five contests; Toronto is 8-2 ATS in its past 10 games against Calgary. In their first meeting of the season back in July the Stampeders beat the Argonauts 25-20 but failed to cover the 7.5-point spread at home in an UNDER result for totals bettors.

At 5Dimes no line had been posted for this game as of Tuesday morning.

B.C. at Edmonton - Saturday, October 17

Last 10 Meetings: Edmonton 4-6 SU, 4-6 ATS | OU 5-5

The Eskimos and the Lions have split their two meetings so far this season SU, but B.C. covered the posted spread in both of those contests - a 26-23 home victory as a 2.5-point underdog, and a 29-23 road loss as a 12-point underdog. Both of those games turned out to be OVER results for totals bettors at the sportsbooks, with the OVER having paid out in four of their last six matchups dating back to the 2013 season.

At 5Dimes the Eskimos are listed as 9.5-point favorites against the Lions.

Hamilton at Montreal - Sunday, October 18

Last 10 Meetings: Montreal 4-6 SU, 7-3 ATS | OU 4-6

The Alouettes are 2-0 both SU and ATS so far this season against the Tiger-Cats, beating them 17-13 as a 2.5-point home underdog and 26-23 as a 11-point road underdog in the two meetings, both of which were UNDER results at the sportsbooks. Montreal is only 4-6 SU over its last 10 games against Hamilton dating back to 2012, but the Alouettes covered the spread in seven of those contests for their supporters on the CFL betting lines.

At 5Dimes no line had been posted for this game as of Tuesday morning.
