It was yet another winning week for Harry Gagnon and “Cousin Sal” Iacono in the Golden Nugget’s Ultimate Football Challenge, as both contestants continued their quest to be the best handicapper among 282 total entrants in the Las Vegas contest. The duo went a combined 8-5-1 in Week 5, with Gagnon’s ‘Cuseboy entry falling short of an even better record when the Cleveland Browns (+3.5) were blown out on Monday night.
Gagnon finished up 4-2-1 to improve to 21-13-1 overall (21.5 points) while Sal went 4-3 to move to 19-15-1 (19.5) for Team Odds Shark, staying within striking distance of the three contest co-leaders, who each have 25. ‘Cuseboy is tied for 49th, with Sal tied for 103rd. The other two team members participating in the Ultimate Football Challenge are the Szokoli brothers, and they did not fare as well in Week 5, with Darren posting a 3-4 mark and Brian going 2-5. Brian is 17-16-2 overall compared to Darren at 15-20.
Team Odds Shark’s eight NFL handicappers continued to struggle in Week 5 of the SuperContest and Circa Sports Million, with only two members managing to stay above the .500 mark overall. Jon Anik went 2-3 in the SuperContest and sits at 14-11, leading the four-member group that also includes Paulo Antunes (1-4 in Week 5 and 12-13 overall), Frank Schwab (1-3-1 and 10-14-1) and Anthony Riccobono (1-2-2 and 9-14-2). The two co-leaders in the SuperContest overall went 4-1 and improved to 23-2.
In Week 5 of the Circa Sports Million, Odds Shark’s own Joe Osborne was the lone member of the four-member group in that contest to sport a winning record at 3-2 to go to 13-12 overall. The other three all have losing marks, with Joe Fortenbaugh (11-14 overall) and Kris Abbott (9-16) each going 2-3 and Pamela Maldonado (10-15) going 1-4. The overall leader in the Circa Sports Million is 20-4-1 with two others right behind at 19-5-1.
Clay Travis had his worst week in the Sportsbook College Pick’em contest as well, going 2-5 to drop him to 17-18 overall. The two co-leaders in the College Pick’em are 26-9.
