Tough Week 4 for Team Odds Shark as College Football Picks Struggle

Through the first quarter of the football season, Team Odds Shark has a winning record overall in four different Las Vegas contests: the Sportsbook SuperContest, Circa Sports Million, Golden Nugget Ultimate Football Challenge and Sportsbook College Pick’em. That is the good news, as the 14 members have gone a combined 167-159-2 (51.2 percent) on a combination of college and pro football picks in the Vegas contests.

The bad news is Week 4 brought the team closer to the .500 mark after going 36-45-1, with only five of the 14 putting together a winning record. That said, the Ultimate Football Challenge continues to be the team’s best contest with a 62-48-2 record thanks mostly to “Cousin Sal” Iacono and Harry Gagnon, who have earned more than half of those wins between them (35). Gagnon’s ‘Cuseboy entry currently ranks tied for 28th overall in the field of 282 at 18-10 while Sal is right behind him tied for 38th at 17-10-1.

But percentage-wise, the duo of Clay Travis and Jon Campbell have been slightly better in the Sportsbook College Pick’em at 32-24 (57.1 percent). Campbell is tied for 22nd at 17-11 out of 258 entries after going 4-3 in Week 4 as one of the five winning marks.

The SuperContest and Circa Sports Million are both NFL-only contests, and each handed out quarterly prizes for performances over the first four weeks. Two entries named TUCO and ER @ JAR both went 19-1 in the SuperContest to split the $15,000 bonus. In the Circa Sports Million – the only contest to award four quarterly bonuses – CB ELITE went 17-3 to take home the First Quarter MVP prize of $143,750.

However, the eight members of Team Odds Shark participating in the SuperContest and Circa Sports Million went just 16-28 in Week 4, but two of them had winning marks. Tony Riccobono went 3-2 in the SuperContest to improve to 8-12 overall while Pamela Maldonado did the exact same thing in the Circa Sports Million. The best overall record for the team in the SuperContest continues to be held by Jon Anik at 12-8, and Odds Shark’s own Joe Osborne has the top mark in the Circa Sports Million at 10-10.
