The betting market doesn’t believe "The Dark Knight Rises" will live up to the hype. The third installment of director Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy opens on Friday and has generated a ton of buzz, but that hasn't convinced bettors a record-breaking Sportsbook weekend is in store.
Sportsbook is offering a prop bet on whether or not the third installment of director Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy will eclipse the Sportsbook-weekend record of $207,438,708 set by "The Avengers."
Last week “No” was a -225 favorite. On Tuesday night, it was all the way up to -271. The international prediction market Intrade.com has Dark Knight’s projected gross total set at $203 million.
Nolan’s decision not to release the movie in 3D is one possible reason behind the surge in action on “No.” Others have suggested that parents won’t be as willing to take kids to the darker Batman compared to The Avengers.
