Big Brother Season 22: All-Stars Betting Odds

Which houseguest leads the field in betting odds on Big Brother: All-Stars?
https://www.thesfnews.com/big-brother-all-stars-premiere-recap/62472

It appeared the hottest reality TV show of the summer, Big Brother, would not have a season this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Its partner to the north, Big Brother Canada, was halted midway through production in the spring as the world as we know it pressed pause.

However, in a surprising turn, CBS announced Big Brother 22 would take place starting August 5, about a month later than usual, and it would be an all-star cast for the first time since its seventh season in 2006. This year’s contestants include former winners, runners-up and big personalities competing for the $500,000 grand prize.

Online sportsbook Bovada has updated its odds for Big Brother: All-Stars following the eviction of former winner Ian Terry, with season 20 runner-up Tyler Crispen listed as the favorite to win at +225 and season 16 runner-up Cody Calafiore second at +450.

They’re followed by a season 12 member of the Brigade, Enzo Palumbo at +500, season 19 third-place finisher Christmas Abbott at +550, and season 8 runner-up Daniele Briones at +650 to round out the top five contestants on the oddsboard.

Cody Calafiore Slips to Second Favorite

In Cody’s first season, he had a terrific alliance with eventual winner Derrick Levasseur that saw the two – dubbed “The Hitmen” – reach the finals. Levasseur was only up for eviction in the final three when Cody won the final head of household, while Calafiore only saw the block twice and never had an eviction vote against him.

The New Jersey native is athletic, having played soccer for the Temple Owls, and has a great social game as well. To start season 22, he won the first head of household, securing safety for the week while also grabbing power to choose which other house guests would be up to be eliminated first. In Week 3, Cody won the POV to keep Tyler’s nominees on the block and send Janelle packing.

What makes him dangerous is his athletic ability, especially in an all-star season when some of the contestants are older and he is still young at 29. Also, by gaining power early, he is able to establish some alliances to further himself in the game.

Though Cody is the second favorite according to the odds, I’m not sure he’s one to hitch your wagon to. His previous success and likability put a large target on his back, especially after winning two competitions already this season. You may find value elsewhere.

Which Contestant Is Providing Better Value?

There is one contestant at this point offering good value, in my opinion, and it is the only previous winner remaining, Nicole Franzel (+1000).

Nicole is a likable person but she can also be a competition beast. She won several competitions in her first season, which put a target on her back and eventually led to her being evicted and finishing in seventh place. In her winning season, she wasn’t as aggressive winning competitions and that was the recipe for success as she edged Paul Abrahamian 5-4 on finale night.

Nicole may have a hard time winning again if she reaches the finale because she has already won, but in the same vein she may be rewarded for making it there again and I like the value.
