George Foreman vs Steven Seagal Betting Odds

Former heavyweight boxing champion and purveyor of fine grilling products George Foreman has challenged 7th dan aikido black belt and B-list action movie star Steven Seagal to a no-holds-barred fight.

No, this isn’t some odd promotional tactic from late ’80s WWE to make headlines. This is a serious thing – as serious as it can be, I guess. Foreman took to Twitter to call out Seagal, saying, “Steven Seagal, I challenge you one on one, I use boxing you can use whatever. 10 rounds in Vegas.”

What prompted this? The Lord above only knows. Maybe Foreman is just a passionate American who didn’t take kindly to Seagal obtaining his Russian citizenship and speaking so highly of Vladimir Putin. Maybe Foreman just realizes that if this were to happen, it would make way too much money. Maybe Foreman has just taken way too many blows to the head.

All we do know is that the interest of a lot of people has been piqued, which means there are betting odds for the fight. Online book Bovada has Seagal as a -300 favorite with Foreman coming back at +200.

Now – God love me – I’m going to try to talk about this like it is a proper fight.

Foreman accumulated a professional boxing record of 76-5 with 68 knockouts. He is one of the greatest heavyweights to ever grace the squared circle with his looping power shots and iron chin making him a violent knockout artist. All that being said, Foreman has not fought professionally since he lost a controversial decision to Shannon Briggs in 1997.

Seagal is a renowned aikido practitioner and became the first foreigner to run a dojo in Japan. Aikido is generally a defensive form of martial arts, based on countering an attack. Though the most basic level of aikido is based on throws, higher levels focus more on strikes – mostly with the hands. Of course, Seagal has also dabbled in other forms of martial arts as well.

So … yeah. That was my vague attempt to talk about Foreman vs Seagal as an actual fight. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go weep for humanity.
