WWE WrestleMania 36: Odds and Predictions

The wrestling universe was buzzing with excitement when news broke that their biggest event of the year, WrestleMania, would go on despite all the suspensions and cancellations of North American sports amid the COVID-19 outbreak. That said, WrestleMania 36 will not be taking place in Tampa Bay as originally scheduled, but rather at their training facility in Orlando, Florida, in what will be a closed set, though it will still be available on the WWE Network and pay-per-view over two days on April 4 and 5.

The four major titles will be on the line in the company’s biggest event of the year. Will any titles change hands or will all the champs remain so come Monday Night Raw? I have a preview and a prediction for each of those fights.

Brock Lesnar (C) vs Drew McIntyre – WWE Championship

The stage was set for this fight at the Royal Rumble. Lesnar was the first entrant in the rumble and was eliminating people left, right and center for a total of 13, until McIntyre entered at No. 16. The Chosen One eliminated The Beast Incarnate and went on to win the Royal Rumble, allowing him to challenge for a championship of his choosing at WrestleMania. It didn’t take long for McIntyre to challenge Lesnar the next night on Raw. McIntyre’s stock is really high and I think he will carry that momentum into a victory over Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.

Prediction: Drew McIntyre (-180)

Goldberg (C) vs Braun Strowman – WWE Universal Championship

Perhaps the most shocking title exchange in a while was Goldberg beating The Fiend at the Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia. The following night on SmackDown he had an open challenge for his belt which The Big Dog, Roman Reigns, quickly accepted. However, Reigns bowed out of WrestleMania 36 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Braun Strowman stepped in. Strowman had a feud with Tyson Fury late in 2019 so it would make sense for him to challenge for a belt and beat the veteran Goldberg.

Prediction: Braun Strowman (N/A)

Becky Lynch (C) vs Shayna Baszler – WWE Raw Women’s Championship

This is a match that’s been a long time coming, with a feud that dates back to Survivor Series. Both women have attacked the other following matches, with Lynch being the first to act at Survivor Series, while Baszler clapped back on an episode of Raw in February. Many thought The Queen of Spades was going to win the Royal Rumble, but she was the runner-up to Charlotte Flair, though she earned her shot at the title by winning the Elimination Chamber in dominant fashion. The Man has been champion for a full year since winning the belt at last year’s WrestleMania – I think her title reign comes to an end.

Prediction: Shayna Baszler (-140)

Rhea Ripley (C) vs Charlotte Flair – NXT Women’s Championship

Mind games galore in this match as Rhea Ripley holds a previous victory over Charlotte Flair but the Queen has never scored a victory over Ripley. Flair was the second-ever NXT Women’s champion back in 2014, holding the title for nearly a year before it was claimed by Sasha Banks. The two have been feuding since mid-February when Ripley retained her title at TakeOver: Portland. The Queen won the Royal Rumble and is using her title shot for this belt. On her quest to win the most world titles like her dad, I would be surprised if Flair doesn’t have her hand raised on the sport’s biggest stage.

Prediction: Charlotte Flair (+150)
