Dallas Empire Favored to Win Call of Duty League

Oddsmakers have pegged the Dallas Empire as the +350 favorites to win with Call of Duty League with the field becoming closely bunched up behind.
Dallas Empire

The inaugural season of the Call of Duty League is fast approaching and excitement is starting to build. Excited fans can get in on the action early, though, as betting odds to win the Call of Duty League have hit the board.

The initial odds have pegged the Dallas Empire as the +350 favorites to win the CoD League with the field closely bunched up behind them.

Call of Duty League Favorites: Dallas Empire

It should not be a shock to anyone that the Empire enter the season as the betting favorite. The roster is built around two of the best players in the history of the game in Ian “Crimsix” Porter and James “Clayster” Eubanks. The duo of Crimsix and Clayster could be the best in the entire league and bring a steady presence to a roster filled out with a few younger players.

Both Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro and Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal are teenagers and have yet to play at the highest level in Call of Duty. The two youngsters are going from playing in relative obscurity to being on the favorites to win the biggest league in the world. That is a massive jump. On a positive note, Shotzzy has played on the highest level of competitive Halo before moving to Call of Duty, so we know he should be fine under the bright lights.

The Empire have compiled an impressive roster entering the first season. As long as Crimsix and Clayster can lead the team and take the rookies under their wing, then Dallas could easily be the team to beat.

Atlanta FaZe: Top Odds for Young Guns

No team has been better constructed to be a long-term contender than Atlanta FaZe. Every single member of the roster is 21 or younger and looks to have a bright future in the CoD League.

Despite the young age of the roster, there are plenty of accomplished players. Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris and Chris “Simp” Lehr were part of eUnited, who won the 2019 world championship, with Simp winning the MVP of those finals. Preston “Briestahh” Greiner was part of a very successful 100 Thieves team that won back-to-back CWL events last year as well.

However, all three of those players had some older teammates to lean on. Now, they are responsible for leading the charge for an entire organization. If some of the younger players step up and take the mantle of steering a brand-new franchise into the future, FaZe will be a top-tier team in the Call of Duty League. If they fold under that pressure without a guiding force, Atlanta could disappoint.

Call of Duty League Dark Horse: OpTic Gaming LA

Yes, this roster doesn’t really feel like OpTic Gaming but the team still put together a quality lineup. Thomas “TJHaLy” Haly and Brandon “Dashy” Otell continue with the OpTic brand after competing under the previous iteration, while Kenny “Kenny” Williams and Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat come over from 100 Thieves.

However, the most interesting roster member is Jordan “JKap” Kaplan. There was a time when JKap was part of OpTic Gaming but that was over six years ago and really was a blip on the radar for his career. The American would go on to win back-to-back world championships in 2015 and 2016, becoming one of only six players to win multiple rings. However, most agree that JKap’s glory days are well behind him after being benched by eUnited and finding his way to a middling Evil Geniuses squad last year. The experience JKap brings to the table is great but can he be a reliable piece of a championship team?

That question is yet to be answered fully but the other four members of OpTic Gaming LA are as steady as they come. There is something to be said about consistency heading into the first season of the Call of Duty League, which will be a lot of change for the scene. If JKap can prove there is more in the tank, OpTic could easily be valuable at +1600.
