Group B And The Importance of Seeding

The top four teams in the CDL standings after the Toronto Ultra Home Series will receive byes in the byes in the playoffs. However, with the top two teams getting two byes, the competition for those spots will be fierce. The schedule makers could not have made a more intense group to fuel the final week of the regular season.

Group B will house the first-place Atlanta FaZe, second-place Dallas Empire and the third-place Florida Mutineers. Though all the scenarios are complicated, any of these three teams can finish the weekend in one of the highly coveted top two – along with the Chicago Huntsmen, who are playing in Group A.

Because of this seeding, the Empire and Mutineers will meet in the first round of the Toronto Home Series. Dallas swept Florida last weekend in the semifinals with little issue. If the Mutineers want to prove themselves among the truly elite and potentially claim a top-two seed, a win in that outing will be vital.

Huntsmen Should Clean Out Group A

Compared to the absolutely stacked Group B, Group A has a clear favorite. The Chicago Huntsmen are 20-7 overall and currently sit fourth in the CDL. Comparably, the other three teams in Group A are a combined 20-44 and sit in three of the bottom four spots in the league.

Of their seven losses, the Huntsmen have suffered this year, four have come against teams currently in the top three in the standings.

The stiffest challenge could come from the Toronto Ultra. Though the team representing the Great White North is among the worst teams according to their record, the Ultra have been turning it on in their last two appearances. Toronto has gone 3-3 in their last six with two extremely close series with the Atlanta FaZe.
