Are Astralis finally back?

One of the biggest talking points of the whole year has been Astralis. They’re the Major champions and were considered the best team of all time not too long ago.

However, it all changed in May. The squad’s captain Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander and veteran player Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth departed the active lineup, citing burnout and medical reasons. This of course put the squad in turmoil, and the team has gone through quite a few players to find the perfect replacements.

Things didn’t look good at all since, and the team faced loss after loss and many disappointing showings. That is until ESL One Cologne. After around two months away from competitive games, Astralis have shown a glimpse of their old selves. They took down Fnatic convincingly and demolished tournament favorite Vitality.

Going into the Pro League, many will be looking forward to seeing if this squad can become as dominant as the last.

Which G2 Esports will show up?

2020 has been a good year for G2. The team won BLAST Premier Spring, and took a handful of second places, even topping the HLTV world ranking for a short period of time.

Despite their good results, they’ve had some shocking ones as well. They crashed out of the previous season of the ESL Pro League in 10th-12th place and took a disappointing ninth at cs_summit 6. Sometimes they can beat everyone, and sometimes they can’t beat anyone.

As such, fans have to wonder the same thing every time: Which G2 will show up? There’s no real way to know if they’re going to be world-beaters or beaten – we’ll just have to wait and see.

Are BIG still No. 1?

If you’ve been following CS:GO recently, you might be thinking: “Why are BIG’s odds so high? They’re No. 1 on the HLTV world rankings.” And you’d be right to ask that.

The team is currently in a very questionable and uncertain place. Sure, they continued their form and won DreamHack Open at the start of August, but once faced against higher-level teams, they completely crumbled.

ESL One Cologne can be described as nothing short of a disaster for the German team, who tumbled out in last place with humiliating losses against Sprout and Ninjas in Pyjamas. As such, no one really knows if they’re still No. 1, or how they’ll perform at the next big event. It’s all about uncertainty for the German squad, and it’ll be up to them to show everyone what they’re made of at the ESL Pro League.
