Na’Vi, mousesports Favored to Win ICE Challenge

Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev celebrates a victory with Na'Vi
HLTV

The second GG.Bet ICE Challenge will take place in London from February 1-6. However, the field has grown from just four in 2019 to eight in 2020. The invited teams offer an interesting mix of top-tier squads and some newer orgs looking to carve out their spot in CS:GO.

Oddsmakers expect a tough battle for the top spot at the ICE Challenge with Natus Vincere and mousesports +275 co-favorites to leave London with the trophy and $125,000.

Na’Vi is one of just two returning teams from 2019 after they finished second last year. Unsurprisingly, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev was dominant during the four-team bracket last year, posting a 1.35 rating across 10 maps. However, Na’Vi is coming off a down year, winning just two of the 15 events they competed in.

While Na’Vi enters the ICE Challenge looking to regroup, mousesports comes in red-hot. The European squad closed out 2019 by making it to the finals in five consecutive events, winning three of those. During this run, the duo of Robin “ropz” Kool and Özgür “woxic” Eker have been working their way into the conversation of top tandems in CS:GO.

Close behind the top two teams entering the ICE Challenge 2020 is ENCE at +400. The Finnish team had hit some hard times after their meteoric start to 2019 but are starting to round back into form. ENCE finished second and third in their final two tournaments in 2019, outings that saw them pick up wins over MiBR, Avangar and Tyloo.

The biggest question mark is easily OG (+1000). The team is absolutely stacked with talent but has still only competed in a handful of events together. A third-fourth finish at cs_summit 5 was a promising start to their time together but they then flamed out at the IEM Katowice European Qualifiers, losing to AGO. If all of the members play up to their potential, OG can be an elite team in CS:GO. But, we don’t know how long it is going to take this new stack to mesh.
