ZywOo Odds-On Favorite To Be HLTV Top Player of 2019

ZywOo talks to his teammates at the StarLadder Major 2019 Main Qualifier

Every year, HLTV ranks its top 20 CS:GO players from the previous year. Some of the previous winners include the best players to ever enter the server, among them the likes of Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, Marcelo “coldzera” David and Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer. However, odds suggest that a newcomer will join that illustrious list.

Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut is a massive -450 favorite to be named HLTV’s top CS:GO player of 2019. Despite being just 19 years old and only playing at the top levels since October 2018, ZywOo has cemented himself as one of the best players on the planet. The Frenchman was named MVP of five separate events in 2019, including a ridiculous run at EPICENTER 2019 when he went +105 with a 1.53 rating over 10 maps.

The second-best odds belong to Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz. Though many in the community want to see dev1ce finally claim the coveted No. 1 spot, odds suggest the Astralis AWPer will once again be the bridesmaid. In the past four years, the Dane has finished second, fifth, third and third in the HLTV rankings. The standout performance of the year for dev1ce came at the Starladder Major Berlin 2019 when he won the MVP after a 1.47 rating throughout the knockout rounds.

Last year’s winner, s1mple, is currently listed at +2000. Though the Na’VI AWPer did not have a bad year by any means, he was unable to match the level of consistent domination that he displayed in 2018. S1mple claimed just one MVP award in 2019 – StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 7 – compared to the absurd six he won in 2018.
