LoL 2016 World Championship Group Betting Odds

The group stage of the League of Legends world championships features tons of heavy favorites with plenty of tough battles to see who wins second. Let’s take a quick look at each group and the odds for each squad to claim the top spot.

Group A

Not surprisingly, the ROX Tigers are a massive -2000 favorite to claim Group A. ROX looked absolutely dominant during the LCK Summer Split and should honestly face little opposition in the group. G2 Esports has the second-best odds at +700 and has a good chance to make their way to the knockout stage. G2 ran through the EU LCS with the duo of Zven and mithy clearing out the bot lane. Counter Logic Gaming could provide an interesting challenge to G2 for second in the group. In all honesty, Albus NoX Luna has pretty much no hope whatsoever.

2016 League of Legends Group A Winner
  • ROX Tigers -2000
  • G2 Esports +700
  • Counter Logic Gaming +1400
  • Albus NoX Luna +10000

Group B

Group B has a very similar makeup to Group A, as there is a heavily favored LCK team with a couple of teams likely battling for second place. SK Telecom T1 should easily cruise through the group stage but it may be best for the team to face some challenge, as they did not close out the Summer Split well. Flash Wolves have been the class of the LMS, but are still looking for a truly impressive showing in an international tournament. Cloud9 struggled to mesh well at times this season and that could cost them. IMay will be making their first big international appearance since coming out from under Edward Gaming’s shadow.

2016 League of Legends Group B Winner
  • SK Telecom T1 -750
  • Flash Wolves +800
  • Cloud9 +1000
  • IMay +1800

Group C

If Edward Gaming doesn’t win this group, it will be a huge shock. That being said, EDG has had a bit of a bad tendency to implode under the brightest lights. H2K Gaming has been great in regular season play but has struggled in the knockout stages during the EU LCS playoffs. There is no doubt that ahq e-Sports is the class of Taiwan and their games with H2K will be critical to both teams. INTZ is a little-known Brazilian team that works extremely well together but is still a few steps behind the best teams.

2016 League of Legends Group C Winner
  • Edward Gaming -5000
  • H2K Gaming +1200
  • ahq e-Sports Club +1200
  • INTZ +10000

Group D

Group D is easily the most unpredictable and competitive collection of teams in the worlds. Team SoloMid have been near indestructible since Biofrost joined the team at the beginning of the Summer Split. It took Samsung Galaxy some time to find their footing after Samsung Blue and Samsung White formed into one team, but they have started to find their rhythm. Royal Never Give Up may be looked at by some as the second-best team in the LPL, but the ADC/Support combination of Uzi and Mata is one of the best in the world. After just barely avoiding relegation in the Spring Split, Splyce came back to an impressive second-place finish in the Summer Split.

2016 League of Legends Group D Winner
  • Team SoloMid +155
  • Samsung Galaxy +165
  • Royal Never Give Up +185
  • Splyce +2000
