The biggest players shine on the biggest stages and there is no bigger stage for League of Legends summoners than the world championship. Last year’s tournament MVP will not be repeating, as MaRin left SKT and joined LGD Gaming prior to 2016.
The top odds to win worlds MVP is Smeb (+700) of the ROX Tigers. Song ‘Smeb’ Kyung-ho has been an absolutely dominant force for ROX this year, as he has won back-to-back LCK MVPs. His versatile, adaptive play makes him arguably the best player in the world right now.
Smeb may be the favorite but the rest of his teammates are not far behind. No starting player on ROX has odds worse than +1100 with Peanut (+800) and PraY (+800) offering the top lines.
Not to be outdone, SK Telecom T1 also sees four of their players in the top nine on the oddsboard. Faker (+800) offers the highest odds but Duke (+900), Bang (+1000) and Blank (+1400) are close behind.
The highest odds for a summoner not from the LCK is ClearLove (+1400) of Edward Gaming. Ming Kai is one of the most decorated players to ever play, but a world championship and a worlds MVP have eluded him. If EDG wants to be the last team standing, ClearLove will need to dominate in the jungle.
