G2 draws favorable group

As you can probably tell by the odds, G2 Esports will be celebrating their group draw as they enter as heavy favorites to win Group A.

With the third seed from China in Suning, the PCS Sportsbooks Machi Esports and Team Liquid being their opponents, G2 should have no problem blowing through the group stage at Worlds and making another playoff appearance.

The main challenge to the European champions should be Team Liquid, but even then, the team touted to be the best in the West should be coming in first, and comfortably so.

Can Rogue survive the group of death?

Group B is the clear “group of death” at Worlds, with both Damwon Gaming and JD Gaming being drawn together – two teams that many would back to make it all the way to the final. They’re joined by the LEC’s third seed Rogue, who have a colossal task ahead of them.

Even a quick glance at the Worlds 2020 odds overall will tell you just how tough this group is. DAMWON is the second favorite at +200, while JD is close behind at +300. This means both come in as dominant favorites in the group, while Rogue stands at +4500 at Sportsbook.

It would take nothing short of a miracle for Rogue to survive this group, one that is already being considered as a two-horse race.

LCS faces tough challenge

When it comes to the American competitors, things are also not looking good. LCS Sportsbook Team SoloMid find themselves as heavy +700 underdogs in a group featuring two strong opponents, Fnatic and Gen.G, and a surging LGD.

Runners-up FlyQuest fare much worse off, being drawn into what is arguably also a group of death. They face Worlds favorite Top Esports and fifth favorite DRX, understandably finding themselves at +4900 to win Group D.

North America’s hopes rest with a miracle from either of these teams, or a fortune draw for Team Liquid, should they advance from the play-in.
