Valspar Championship Odds & Betting Preview

Adam Hadwin PGA Tour Valspar Championship

On the heels of a wild finish to the WGC-Mexico Championship, all eyes will be on the Sunshine State this weekend when the Valspar Championship gets underway in Palm Harbor, Florida.

Tiger Woods announced his intention to play in the Valspar on Twitter last week.

At Bovada, Jordan Spieth is the +850 favorite to go all the way, with Rory McIlroy (+1400), Sergio Garcia (+1600), Justin Rose (+1800), Henrik Stenson (+2000), Paul Casey (+2500), Tiger Woods (+2500), Adam Hadwin (+2800), Tony Finau (+2800) and Byeong Hun An (+4000) rounding out the top 10.

Five of the top 13 players in the world rankings will be in attendance this weekend. Woods announced he’s going to play at the Valspar and the Arnold Palmer Invitational via his Twitter account last week, so expect more eyes than usual to be on the tournament with the legendary golfer in the mix.

Hadwin captured his first PGA Tour victory here last year by holding off a strong challenge by Patrick Cantlay on the final round. The Canadian owned a four-shot lead entering Sunday before suffering a costly double bogey on the back nine. Hadwin hasn’t won a tournament since, but did have a decent showing at the Masters (T-36) and U.S. Open (T-39).

Who's going to be snakebitten at Copperhead?

Innisbrook Resort, which is colloquially known as Copperhead, is a challenging 7,340-yard par 71. Two of Copperhead’s par 5s feature double doglegs, and the renowned “Snake Pit” – two extremely tough par 4s sandwiched around the 215-yard 17th hole – has been taking a bite out of golfers since the course opened in 1972.

Rose owns four top-15 finishes at the event since 2008 and will most likely be in the mix when all is said and done, while Bill Haas ventures back to action three weeks after getting involved in a fatal auto accident ahead of the Genesis Open. McIlroy and Woods are set to make their first appearances at the tournament.
