Masters Odds: Woods, not McIlroy, favored

Rory McIlroy dominated the PGA Championship to win his second major by a record eight strokes, while Tiger Woods once again faded on the weekend. However, that didn’t stop Woods from Sportsbook as the favorite to win the 2013 Masters.

The Las Vegas Hotel & Casino SuperBook opened Woods at 11/2 (+550) on Monday afternoon. McIlroy is next at 13/2, followed by Phil Mickelson at 15/1, Luke Donand and Lee Westwood at 20/1, and Justin Rose and defending champion Bubba Watson at 25/1.

Since 1999, Woods has been the favorite at every Masters except one; Mickelson was the favorite in 2010 at Augusta.

Woods hasn’t won a major since his infamous run-in with a hydrant and the ensuing media frenzy in 2008. He was in contention heading into the weekend at all four majors this year, but struggled in the final rounds.

McIlroy has yet to win at Augusta, but he did have the lead in 2010 heading into the final round before falling apart on Sunday. He bounced back to win the U.S. Open in record fashion last year and then broke Jack Nicklaus' record for margin of victory at the PGA Championship on Sunday.

The SuperBook posted odds on 99 golfers, becoming the first sportsbook in Nevada or online to offer 2013 Masters betting. Ernie Els, who won this year’s British Open, opened at 50/1, as did Webb Simpson, this year’s U.S. Open champ.
