Odds to Win the John Deere Classic

A general view of Bronson Burgoon and Michael Kim in the final group on the 18th hole during the final round of the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run on July 15, 2018 in Silvis, Illinois.

Michael Kim sets his sights on his first PGA Tour title defense this week at the 2019 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. According to sportsbooks, Collin Morikawa and Viktor Hovland are the favorites to go all the way.

Morikawa and Hovland are the +1600 favorites at Bovada, with Lucas Glover (+2000), Matthew Wolff (+2000), Sungjae Im (+2000), Brian Harman (+2500), Charles Howell III (+2500), Joaquin Niemann (+2500), Daniel Berger (+2800) and Ryan Moore (+3300) rounding out the top 10.

Four of the past eight John Deere champions have been first-timers.

In total, only four of the top 30 players in the current FedExCup standings will tee it up at TPC Deere Run in what’s shaping up to be a relatively weak field for PGA Tour standards. Hovland, who broke Jack Nicklaus’ U.S. Open scoring mark for an amateur, is set to participate in his fourth straight event as a pro following that performance.

Can Wolff Keep His Momentum Going?

Speaking of amateurs, expect plenty of eyes to be on Wolff this week. The Oklahoma State product is coming off a magical week in Minnesota in which he won the 3M Open. Thanks to a fantastic third-round 62, Wolff began Saturday with a share of the lead and put up a 65 on Sunday to claim the title.

This tournament has been a great source for first-time winners. Four of the past eight champions at the John Deere Classic have made it their first PGA Tour win, including Kim a year ago and Bryson DeChambeau in 2017. In the last 19 editions of the event, nine first-timers have emerged triumphant.

TPC Deere Run Has Been Birdie Central

The course, a 7,268-yard par 71, is notorious on the tour for its abundance of birdie opportunities. Paul Goydos carded what was then only the fourth 59 in PGA Tour history in 2010.
