Odds to Win A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier

Odds to Win A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier

The 2019-20 PGA Tour season begins this week when the Military Tribute at the Greenbrier gets underway at the Greenbrier Old White TPC at White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. When it comes to odds on which man will emerge triumphant, Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland are the co-favorites at sportsbooks.

DeChambeau and Hovland are the +1200 front-runners at Bovada, with Jason Kokrak (+1600), Joaquin Niemann (+2200), Marc Leishman (+2500), Sungjae Im (+2500), Bubba Watson (+2800), Byeong Hun-An (+2800), Russell Henley (+3300) and Cameron Smith (+4000) comprising the rest of the top 10.

Plenty of Rookies in the Field

The 156-man field is filled with first-timers looking to make a splash. As is the case every year, the majority of the top golfers on the tour will skip the majority of the fall swing to rest up and get ready for when things really get going in January. DeChambeau is the highest-ranked golfer in the field after the American placed 12th in the FedExCup standings last season.

There are some veterans in the mix among the young guns, though. Zach Johnson, Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner, Jimmy Walker, Keegan Bradley and John Daly are the major winners in the field. Due to the new condensed schedule on the PGA Tour, the Greenbrier is unveiling its new date, moving from July to September.

Comebacks are Common at This Event

This year’s tournament marks the 10th year of the event. It’s worth noting that whoever is leading the pack heading into Sunday is far from guaranteed to go all the way, as no 54-hole leader has gone on to win the title. Kelly Kraft, who was the 54-hole leader here a year ago, shot even par on Sunday to lose by five strokes to Kevin Na.

It had been seven years since Na had collected a win on the PGA Tour prior to his championship last season, and the veteran is +4000 to go back to back in West Virginia. Na went on to finish 28th in the FedExCup standings and made the Tour Championship for only the second time in his career. Na also won at the Charles Schwab Challenge – his second victory in 10 months.

The course, a 7,286-yard par 70, has been the host venue of the tournament since it began back in 2010.
