PGA: Valero Texas Open Odds

Jimmy Walker PGA

San Antonio is the setting this weekend when the PGA Tour rolls into town for the Valero Texas Open. The tournament features a decent field, as nine of the top 30 players in the world rankings will be participating.

At online sportsbook Bovada, defending champion Jimmy Walker is a +1400 favorite to reclaim the title. Branden Grace (+1600), Patrick Reed (+1600), J.B. Holmes (+2000) and Matt Kuchar (+2000) round out the top five.

To say Walker is comfortable at the TPC San Antonio would be an understatement. The Texan became the first two-time winner of the 2015 season at the course last year thanks to a pair of birdie putts of more than 15 feet at holes 16 and 17 en route to a final round of 70 that sealed the outcome. Walker lives just over 30 miles from the course, so familiarity could come into play once again.

Phil Mickelson will be making his third appearance in the event, but Lefty has never fared particularly well in this spot. Mickelson, fresh off a missed cut at the Masters, hasn’t managed to crack the top 25 at the Valero Texas Open.

Charley Hoffman is a player to watch. Always the bridesmaid and never the bride, Hoffman has finished among the top 15 nine times in his previous 10 trips to the tournament. The 39-year-old has a +3000 shot to finish the job this time around.

What’s not to like about Branden Grace? Grace has been in fine form this year and emerged triumphant at the RBC Heritage thanks to a solid 9-under showing. It wouldn’t be much of a shock to see the South African in the winner’s circle on Sunday.

Here’s a look at the book’s full list of odds. Who are you backing?
