PGA Tour Expert Picks: AT&T Byron Nelson

Keith Mitchell plays his shot from the second tee during the third round of the Honda Classic at PGA National Resort and Spa on March 02, 2019 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Look, predicting a pre-tournament winner in golf isn’t easy. While it’s true sports bettors can find fantastic value, it’s incredibly frustrating when one of your picks doesn’t even make the cut. That’s why I’m here to help.

Every week I’ll highlight three golfers who have a good chance to win the hardware for the upcoming weekend. This week it’s the AT&T Byron Nelson.

My favorite pick: Keith Mitchell +2800

Mitchell, who finished T-3 as a rookie at the AT&T Byron Nelson last year, is coming into his own right now. The 27-year-old won at PGA National two months ago and finished T-6 at Bay Hill and T-8 at Quail Hollow. Given his current form, he’s undervalued at +2800.

My second favorite pick: Scott Piercy +4000

Piercy sits 36th in the FedExCup standings right now and has five top-10s and another three top-20s this season. Piercy finished T-32 here a year ago but is due for a better showing this time around. Even at 40, he can still get it done, and the relatively weak field should work in his favor.

My third favorite pick: Seamus Power +8000

Quietly, Power is on fire right now. The Irishman has been within striking distance over the last three weeks, going T-6, T-5 and T-13 ahead of the AT&T Byron Nelson. Given those stats, a shot on him at +8000 is well worth it in my opinion.
