PGA Tour FedExCup Playoffs: Tour Championship Odds

Dustin Johnson PGA

The PGA Tour’s FedExCup Playoff comes to a dramatic end this weekend, as the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia is the setting for its conclusion. The final event of the four-tournament playoff, the 30-player field consists exclusively of the top money leaders of the past PGA Tour season.

Fresh off his BMW Championship victory, Dustin Johnson is a +500 favorite to once again take home the hardware. Rory McIlroy (+650), Jordan Spieth (+800), Jason Day (+950) Adam Scott (+1000), Paul Casey (+1600), Patrick Reed (+1800), Hideki Matsuyama (+3000), Phil Mickelson (+3000) and Matt Kuchar (+3300) round out the top 10 at the shop.

Spieth triumphed at the 2015 Tour Championship, and he’s gone on record saying he’s very comfortable at the course. The Texan’s 2016 campaign hasn’t been nearly as impressive as his dominant 2015 season, but he’s got enough talent to make a run on any given day.

It’s possible for one player to win the Tour Championship and another to take the FedExCup. In 2008, the Tour Championship was won by Camilo Villegas, while the FedExCup went to Vijay Singh. The same thing happened in 2009 when Phil Mickelson won the tournament but Tiger Woods was crowned the overall FedExCup winner.

The small field means certain big names will be left out of the mix. World No. 9 Rickie Fowler placed 58th at the BMW Championship, but it wasn’t enough to boost him into the top 30 of the FedExCup standings. With that in mind, this event will garner a significant amount of action due to the limited number of participants.
