One of the most entertaining events in golf for both fans and bettors, the Ryder Cup returns this week after missing its scheduled date last year due to the pandemic. Twelve American golfers and a dozen European golfers will compete to bring home the prestigious trophy with plenty of intrigue and drama ready to unfold at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.
The Ryder Cup’s interesting and unique format (a combination of foursome matches, fourball and singles match play) over a three-day stretch makes it one of the best events of the year for Golf Betting.

Odds as of September 23 at Sportsbook
Best Bet: Xander Schauffele (+650)
Betting on which golfer you think will lead his team in points starts with figuring out who is going to likely play all five sessions. Not every golfer will play in a foursome and fourball on Friday, the same on Saturday and then a match on Sunday.
One thing we know about Schauffele is that he can roll putts. Schauffele finished 16th on the tour last season in SG: Putting average and will likely be paired with Patrick Cantlay, a duo that performed well at the 2019 Presidents Cup – a similarly formatted event.
If the pair can recapture their foursome/fourball success, Schauffele should be able to play in all five sessions.
As one of the most well-rounded golfers on tour, Schauffele should be able to excel in this format and is a value at +650 despite having the second best odds.

Ryder Cup Prop Bet #2: Top Points Scorer (Europe)
Player | Odds |
---|---|
Jon Rahm | +325 |
Rory McIlroy | +500 |
Viktor Hovland | +600 |
Tommy Fleetwood | +900 |
Shane Lowry | +900 |
Paul Casey | +1000 |
Sergio Garcia | +1000 |
Tyrrell Hatton | +1200 |
Ian Poulter | +1600 |
Matt Fitzpatrick | +1800 |
Lee Westwood | +2800 |
Bernd Wiesberger | +3300 |
Odds as of September 23 at Sportsbook
Best Bet: Jon Rahm (+325)
It’s hard to pass on Rahm in this Ryder Cup prop bet as the World No. 1-ranked golfer and the clear best player on the European team. Rahm is also a lock to play all five sessions as a player the Europeans will have to lean on to win the event. His odds are still decent value at +325.
If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, Ryder Cup veteran Paul Casey is intriguing at +1000. Casey is making his fifth appearance at the Ryder Cup and is the type of player whose style lends itself to this format. Known as a premier ball striker, he should be an asset in the foursome/fourball sessions – especially if he can land a quality partner.
Ryder Cup Prop Bet #3: Top Event Rookie
Player | Odds |
---|---|
Xander Schauffele | +375 |
Patrick Cantlay | +400 |
Viktor Hovland | +550 |
Collin Morikawa | +600 |
Scottie Scheffler | +650 |
Shane Lowry | +750 |
Daniel Berger | +800 |
Harris English | +1000 |
Bernd Wiesberger | +2000 |
Odds as of September 23 at Sportsbook
Best Bet: Patrick Cantlay (+400)
Cantlay enters the Ryder Cup on a crazy hot streak, winning each of his last two appearances (the Tour Championship and the BMW Championship) and finishing T-11 at the Northern Trust before that.
His red-hot putter makes him one of the more dangerous players in the event and, as alluded to earlier, his possible pairing with Xander Schauffele should allow him to play in all five sessions. He has slightly more attractive odds than Schauffele, too.

Jordan Spieth | +400 |
Xander Schauffele | +400 |
Scottie Scheffler | +650 |

Best Bet: Sergio Garcia (+750)
USA captain Steve Stricker picked six wild cards to complete his team of 12 after the six automatic qualifiers, and Europe captain Padraig Harrington picked three of his own as Team Europe’s rules awarded nine automatic qualifiers for the team.
While Schauffele is a fine bet in this Ryder Cup prop bet (see above), longtime Ryder Cup vet Sergio Garcia has more attractive odds at +750 and is actually the all-time leader in points at the Ryder Cup.
Garcia is also coming in hot with T-14 and T-6 finishes at the Tour Championship and BMW Championship, respectively.
