Odds to Win the 2019 U.S. Open

Fans watch the action on the seventh hole during the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at Pebble Beach Golf Links, on February 11, 2018 in Pebble Beach, California.

The opening round of the 2019 U.S. Open is in the books, and according to sportsbooks, Justin Rose is the new favorite to go all the way at Pebble Beach.

Rose is the +550 front-runner at Bovada, with Brooks Koepka (+750), Rory McIlroy (+750), Rickie Fowler (+900), Xander Schauffele (+900), Tiger Woods (+1200), Francesco Molinari (+1800), Louis Oosthuizen (+2000), Dustin Johnson (+2500) and Aaron Wise (+3300) rounding out the top 10.

Justin Rose is the +550 favorite to win the U.S. Open.

Rose sits as the sole leader at 6 under after the opening round, with Fowler (-5), Schauffele (-5), Oosthuizen (-5), Wise (-5), Scott Piercy (-4) and Nate Lashley (-4) within striking distance.

Rose, the 2013 U.S. Open champion, looked to be in the groove all day long on Thursday and was lights-out with his putter en route to a 65 to tie Woods’ record for low score at a Pebble Beach-hosted U.S. Open.

The course played as friendly as it could to golfers, but don’t expect to see the litany of extremely low scores continue. The USGA notoriously prefers its venues to be tough and will likely make some tweaks as Pebble firms up heading into the weekend.

One of the best-known golf courses in the world is back as the host for the 2019 U.S. Open, as the third major of the year will take place at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California on June 13-16.

Brooks Koepka is looking to win his fifth major in seven tries.

Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy are the +900 co-favorites to go all the way at Bovada, with Tiger Woods (+1100), Patrick Cantlay (+1800), Jordan Spieth (+2200), Xander Schauffele (+2500), Jon Rahm (+2800), Justin Rose (+2800) and Justin Thomas (+2800) rounding out the top 10.

Koepka fever has hit the PGA Tour in a big way, as the American is back at the event looking to win his third U.S. Open in a row. Koepka, who placed T-2 at the Masters earlier this year, is coming off his second PGA Championship win at Bethpage Black Course.

Koepka now has four major wins in six starts. Based on that stat alone, his +800 pre-tournament price makes sense. Including his 2019 PGA Championship triumph, he has made the cut in 91 percent of the majors he’s entered on the PGA Tour (20 out of 22).

U.S. Open Returns to the Iconic Pebble Beach

The last time the U.S. Open came to Pebble Beach was back in 2010, where Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell became the first European to win the tournament since 1970. This will be the sixth time the venue has hosted the U.S. Open.

The 7,040-yard par-71 course is known both for its beauty and its toughness. The par-5 14th hole has usually been one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour, while the short par-3 No. 7 is one of the most photographed golf holes in the world.
