Watson Highlights Phoenix Open Odds

While the spotlight of the sports world will be on Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, golf fans and bettors alike will be focused on one of the most popular events of the PGA Tour: the Waste Management Phoenix Open. The event, which takes place at the Tournament Players Club of Scottsdale, Arizona, features a star-studded field with no shortage of value available.

Bubba Watson has been tabbed as the betting favorite at Sportsbook, and it’s not hard to figure out why. Watson has finished as the runner up in each of the previous two Phoenix Opens, while placing in the top 15 in four straight tournaments. Bettors who are banking on the third time being a charm for Watson can grab him for a great price of +1000.

Unlike the horrific weather that plagued last week’s Farmers Insurance Open, the forecast is looking fantastic in Arizona. Golfers should expect clear skies, sun and temperatures in the 77 degrees Fahrenheit range for the tournament.

The frontrunners

Brandt Snedeker, who braved the elements and gutted out a win at the Farmers, is tied with Abu Dhabi Sportsbook Rickie Fowler at +1400 odds.

Brooks Koepka (+1600) claimed the bragging rights last year thanks to a 15-under performance and will be looking to do it again in front of one of the most raucous crowds on the tour. This course has never been very challenging, a trend that proved to be evident in 2015 when a total of 14 players finished at 10-under or better.

Will there be any magic from Mickelson?

Another man to watch in Scottsdale is the golf world’s wily veteran, Phil Mickelson. Lefty is extremely familiar with the course, having participated in the event 26 times, and has emerged triumphant on three occasions. Mickelson has a +2000 shot at the shop to win for a fourth time, which would be a course record.
