Guys & Bets (Episode 225): Football Friday with Four NFL Picks and Four College Football Bowl Picks

It’s Football Friday on Guys & Bets! Joe Osborne, Andrew Avery, Harry Gagnon and Pamela Maldonado are here for the final show before the holidays to break down their picks across the NFL and the early college football bowl schedule.

Joe is all over the NFL this week and starts in the AFC North as the Baltimore Ravens look to maintain the league’s best record. This week they seek to avenge one of their two losses on the season as they go to the Dawg Pound to face the Cleveland Browns.

Joe also likes a play in the “Le’Veon Bell revenge game.” Though that aspect of the game is being downplayed, what can’t be downplayed is how well the Pittsburgh defense has been playing since acquiring Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins. The defense looks to keep the Steelers in a playoff position as they face the lowly New York Jets.

Joe also likes a bet in the Sunday Night Football matchup, which features the Kansas City Chiefs heading to the Windy City to take on the Bears. Chicago is eliminated from playoff contention and looks to play spoiler against Patrick Mahomes and company. The Chiefs defense has quietly improved over its last four games, not allowing more than 17 points and holding two opponents to single digits.

Ninja is all about college football bowl season today, as he has three bowl game picks. Ninja starts with the Frisco Bowl between Utah State and Kent State. Highly touted Utah State QB Jordan Love leads the Aggies in what should be his final college football game. It’s also his final game to show NFL scouts what he offers.

Next up is the New Mexico Bowl between the San Diego State Aztecs and Central Michigan Chippewas. This game is a matchup of opposite styles. Central Michigan has a high-flying attack and San Diego State brings a stout defense looking to stifle Quinten Dormady, Jonathan Ward and the rest of the Chippewas. Ninja likes a play on the total for this game.

For his final pick of the show, Ninja has a side in the Hawai’i Bowl. It’s the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and BYU Cougars and each team comes into the matchup having won four of its last five games, but the Warriors fell to Boise State in the Mountain West title game. They have lost four of their last five Hawai’i Bowl games.

As always on Football Friday, Pam Maldonado joins the guys for her pick. This week Pam has a bet on the Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl between the Boise State Broncos and Washington Huskies. Boise State comes into the game riding a six-game winning streak behind strong play from senior quarterback Jaylon Henderson. He has compiled 12 TDs in his last four games and looks to end his college football career on a high note.

Finally, the legend that is Harry Gagnon has his NFL pick. With three important games on Saturday, Harry likes a bet in the early contest that has the Houston Texans going to Raymond James Stadium to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Harry likes a play on the total in what shapes up to be an exciting game featuring two exciting quarterbacks. Jameis Winston leads the NFL in passing yards and interceptions while the Buccaneers secondary has struggled mightily and will have its hands full with Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins and the Texans.

As always, the show wraps up with a Q&A session for our viewers, so if there’s anything you’ve always wanted to ask, you should be joining us live every weekday at noon ET on our YouTube channel!
