Guys & Bets (Episode 230): Football Friday with Eight Wild Card Weekend NFL Picks

Joe Osborne and Andrew Avery are joined by Pamela Maldonado and Harry Gagnon to get you all set for Wild Card Weekend in the NFL. This weekend of football games delivers each year and this weekend shouldn’t be any different.

Joe gets us started with a 6-point teaser. One of the teams involved has been excellent on teasers this season. He has one matchup from each conference on it.

Joe likes a side for what could be the most intriguing game of Wild Card Weekend with a pick on the line as the New England Patriots host the Tennessee Titans. There have been many pundits who have said we are seeing cracks in the foundation of the Patriots. However, New England still boasts a defense that is statistically among the best in the NFL and you can doubt Tom Brady at your own peril.

For his final pick on the show, Joe is going to the City of Brotherly Love. In a matchup of two teams that quite simply don’t quit, the total is attractive. Both teams feature good quarterback play, with Carson Wentz playing his best football of the season down the stretch and Russell Wilson being Russell Wilson.

Ninja gets things rolling in Foxborough as the Titans come running into town with Derrick Henry to take on the Patriots. Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has downplayed his return to New England and made it all about the players. However, the Titans’ ties to the Patriots go much deeper than the head coach. General manager Jon Robinson, defensive coordinator Dean Pees, cornerbacks Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler (on IR) and running back Dion Lewis all spent time with the Patriots before joining the Titans.

The Buffalo Bills have been led all season by their defense and their gutsy quarterback, Josh Allen. Ninja sees a prop bet for an anytime touchdown scorer. Houston’s defense has been inconsistent this season and ranked 25th in rushing yards allowed per game (121.1).

For Ninja’s final pick on the show, he’s backing Russell Wilson on a prop bet. The former Wisconsin quarterback thrives in big games and big moments and this Sunday should be no different. With the Seahawks having problems with the health of their running backs lately, Wilson can help shoulder some of that load in the playoffs.

Pamela Maldonado joins the crew as always on Football Friday, and she has a side in the Bills-Texans game. The Bills bring a top-notch defense into this contest, allowing the third-fewest yards per game (298.2) and the fourth-fewest passing yards per game (195.2). Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins and the rest of the Texans will have their hands full at home on Saturday.

Finally, Harry Gagnon has a pick in the rematch of the Minneapolis Miracle but this time the game is in New Orleans. Drew Brees and company marched through the regular season with a 13-3 record to secure the No. 3 seed in the NFC. Kirk Cousins’ struggles in big games are well documented, but he has a chance to rewrite that storyline come Sunday.

As always, the show wraps up with a Q&A session for our viewers, so if there’s anything you’ve always wanted to ask, you should be joining us live every weekday at noon ET on our YouTube channel!
