Guys & Bets (Episode 236): Five NBA Picks and an FA Cup Pick

With college football in the rear-view, Joe Osborne and Andrew Avery turn their attention to the hardwood and the pitch with a fairly good NBA board and a little FA Cup action for your Tuesday episode.

Up first, the Houston Rockets are in Memphis to take on the Grizzlies. Houston will be without Russell Westbrook as he will be sitting out for rest purposes. That means more opportunities for Houston’s scorers as Westbrook averages 18.7 shot attempts per game. The bet here for Joe is on a player prop.

Next up, Joe stays in the Association. He likes a side as the Utah Jazz go to Brooklyn to face the Nets. Fresh off the return of Kyrie Irving, the Nets should have their hands full with one of the hottest teams in the league. Utah has won 14 of its last 15 games and Joe has some interesting data to back his play.

The Cleveland Cavaliers got whacked last night against the Los Angeles Lakers and tonight they stay in L.A. to take on the Clippers. Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and company are waiting with open arms. The Clippers currently occupy the fifth seed in the Western Conference. While it’s a rather big spread for this game, Joe went elsewhere for his wager.

Ninja is starting his wagers in the Association as well. The feeble Atlanta Hawks host the Phoenix Suns in what shapes up to be a game you may need to wager to watch. But Ninja went through the numbers for this and sees a nice spot on the spread to capitalize on an opportunity here.

Moving along, Ninja goes to the matchup in Brooklyn as well, but his bet isn’t on the line, it’s a player prop. Mike Conley has been out of the Utah Jazz lineup since December 17, and that has placed more responsibility on others to pick up the slack. Donovan Mitchell is one of the guys who has done just that. Ninja likes one of the prop bets available for Mitchell.

Finally, it wouldn’t be a Guys & Bets if Ninja didn’t get a soccer wager in. With five fixtures on tap in FA Cup action, there is an interesting spot to bet on as Tottenham matches up with Middlesbrough. These two clubs played on January 5, and it ended in a 1-1 draw. This time, the game will be played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
